MDT is planning to have two public open house meetings in September. One will be in Polson and one will be in Somers, along with a virtual event. Once they have confirmed the meeting details, MDT will post a notice on the study website (https://www.mdt.mt.gov/pubinvolve/us93polsonsomers/), mail notices to adjacent property owners, place ads, and issue press releases to local media outlets. They will also send an email notification to their study contact list. If you wish to be included on that contact list you can submit a comment on the website linked above.

Lakeside Speed Study Comments due by June 21st
Lakeside Speed Study - Comment Period Open
On May 16, 2024, MDT presented the Lakeside Speed Study to the Flathead County Commissioners. The Commissioners began compiling public comments during the week of May 27, 2024, regarding the Speed Limit Recommendations on Highway 93 from the Lake/Flathead County line to Highway 82 in Somers. The Lakeside Somers Chamber of Commerce submitted comments on May 27, 2024, recommending a 25 MPH speed limit through Lakeside and a 35 MPH speed limit through Somers. The Upper West Shore Alliance supports the Chamber's recommendations. Like the Chamber, we believe that a reduction in speed limits will foster a safer environment for all highway users; pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles. You can read the Chamber's public comment here. Please read the Speed Study Report and email your comments to the Flathead County Commissioners at cocontactus@flathead.mt.gov We encourage you to submit your comments as soon as possible so that the Commissioners can review and provide MDT with comments prior to July 1, 2024.
